Practice Group Structure and Planning
Practice Group Structures and Management
Efficient and effective practice group management requires an appropriate practice group organizational structure. Most firms struggle with finding the right balance among practice groups, industry teams, client teams and offices. Often large business and litigation departments have particular challenges determining the best sub-department organization structures. We work with firms to evaluate and modify their group structures and help ensure effective management at these complex and overlapping group levels. We are also often involved in developing and defining the roles of the department chairs and practice group leaders as well as advising firms on methods for considering the contributions of practice group managers in partner compensation decisions.
Practice Group Business Planning
Key to effective group management is effective group business planning. We have extensive experience working with firms to institute group level business planning or to modify processes currently in place. We work with firm management to direct the design of the process so as to engage partners and support the firm’s overall strategic plan.
